According to reports, UK government has invested £12.8 million ($16.4 million) in partnership with an AI firm to produce driverless cars.
The company is working on developing a system that will enable passengers order driverless cars with just an app.
UK now allows driverless car trials to take place on public roads anywhere, as long as that car is covered by insurance.
Earlier this year Volvo launched a self driving car project called ‘Drive Me UK’. The trial involved up to 100 driverless cars being driven on roads by people later this year.
