The war for the fastest automobile; be it sedans or SUVs is a never ending one. Before the Porsche Cayenne and Volkswagen Toareg added some mechanical fire to SUVs, no one ever bothered ascribing speed to SUVs. Now, the battle for the fastest has been raging.
Rolls Royce unleashed their SUV and claimed it is the fastest production SUV, many others are throwing their hats to the ring for this epic fight. Quite expectedly, Lamborghini is coming back after their LM001 SUV’s demise with a new SUV the Urus.
Now the Urus is trying to make a grand entrance with claims by the car maker that it will be the fastest production SUV to ever lap the Nurburgring, a record previously held by the previous generation Porsche Cayenne Turbo S with a time of 7:59.74.
In the words of Lamborghini research and development chief Maurizio Reggiani the Urus will be faster; “our SUV will achieve more than 300 kph (187 mph) because it’s a Lamborghini. It’s our DNA. (We will) achieve the best lap time for an SUV on Nordschleife—this is a faster SUV,” he told Motor Authority.
The Urus said to be launched on the 4th of December, has some sneak disguised pictures circulating now and will be powered by Volkswagen’s 4.0-liter twin turbo V8.
