The Nigerian Customs Services has uncovered and confiscated nothing less than 57 smuggled exotic cars in Omole Estate and Lekki phase 1 Lagos.

Among the cars seized were one bulletproof Lexus jeep, one bulletproof Toyota Landcruiser, nine Land Cruiser jeeps, five Toyota Camry, and others, all valued above N1.3bn.

Confirming the seizure, the Comptroller, NCS, Federal Operations Unit, Zone A, Ikeja, Mohammed Garba, in a statement on Wednesday in Lagos, revealed that the service also seized seven other assorted vehicles, mostly brand new, along Ijebu Ode expressway and Olorunda.

The unit also confiscated 13,333 bags of foreign rice, 1,390 cartons of frozen poultry products, 835 Jerry cans of vegetable oil, 15 parcels of Indian Hemp, 1,101 pieces of used tyres, 205 bales of used clothing and many other items.

Garba added that no one has stepped forward to claim ownership of the seized vehicles, As I speak with you, nobody has come forward to claim ownership yet because we doubt if they have any Customs papers on the vehicles let alone End-User Certificate for the bulletproof cars,”
