FIA , the overall body that runs Formula 1 races has called for bids from tire makers interested in becoming the sole tire supplier for the 2017, 2018 and 2019 races.
Current tire supplier, Pirelli’s contract will expire in 2016 and FIA is also looking at increasing the current diameter of the wheels from its present 13 inches for 2017 to see if such will improve the speed of cars by 5 or more seconds per lap.
This is coming on the heels of lifting the ban on refueling aimed at improving the excitement of the game.
