Saturday the 10th of October was a day Surulere, Lagos won’t forget in a hurry as Telecommunications giant, Globacom rewarded her customers and a select few others with a musical concert tagged; ‘Glo Bounce & Slide’.
Glo Slide & Bounce.
Just by migrating to the Bounce plan by dialling *170*4#, use N2,000 in a month, indicating preferred location by SMS, existing customers got their invites to the show that ordinarily would have cost them so much more.

The event was a blast from the beginning to the end as compere, Okey Bakassi gave a top notch performance of engaging the crowd and coordinating the events of the night for a smooth ride all through.
It also turned out to be a night to give some talented ones a chance to mount the stage and show the stuff they are made of as Okey, called for talents and trust Lagosians, they came out and he had a herculean but brisk and exciting task of auditioning them right there and then.

Some of the aspiring talented performers.

Some of them gave such a wonderful performance that i will encourage Glo to look for them and help them launch their entertainment careers, especially one young chap that freestyle-rapped in Yoruba who gave an explosive performance but really looked like he is from the ‘streets’.

He eventually squared off against another hardcore rapper who came with an American flavour and also freestyled and gave a great performance.

One little boy, well buttoned up and tucked in like an aspiring gentleman was a sensation as he calmly rendered his ballads and even wowed the crowd well enough to sing along with him.

After this batch some upcoming singers took the stage for their own performances but the ace among them was the guy that rapped and also sang.
Soon it was time for the heavyweights and funky gospel singer, Sammy Okposo opened the floor with an electrifying performance that got the hall on their feet throughout as he took us through a gospel musical journey.

Next came Mavin Record’s Di’ja. The young diva of the top record label who didn’t disappoint and was soon joined on stage by record label mate, Korede Bello and both gave us their popular ‘Adaobi’ song which always strikes the right chord in me as that was our wedding entrance song on my wedding day. Ofcourse, the crowd didn’t let Korede go without a taste of ‘Godwin’.

Bez was the next to thrill the crowd and the musical genius was on point as usual especially with the scintillating guitar performance.
Then the musical and biological twins; P Square, crowned the night and the crowd went gaga with their appearance.
Soon, they had an epic battle of supremacy much to the delight of the crowd as they showed off their dexterity with their vocals and mastery of musical instruments with Peter reminding Paul that he is his senior by 8mins so was better.

Paul was to hear nothing of such and decided to show him that he plays the instruments better as he took the drum from the player while Peter not to be out-shined, played the piano. Peter rounded off the competition with a display of his abs much to the delight of the crowd.
Comedienne and TV host, Helen Paul, comic actor, Imeh Bishop Umoh aka Okon Lagos and actress ‘Jinifer’, Funke Akindele were all on hand as Glo Ambassadors to help spice up the night.
