This was revealed by Alhaji Shehu Babangida, the national President of Amalgamated Commercial Tricycle and Motorcycle Owners, Repairers and Riders Association of Nigeria, ACOMORAN.
According to Babangida who spoke to newsmen in Abuja, he said the biometric registration of Okada and Keke riders will stop the cry for the ban of motorcycle nationwide.
He also revealed the technology to be used for the biometric data capturing, he said Abuja-based indigenous software development company, Clevland Investment Management Limited, had been chosen as the technical partner that would carry out the biometric data capturing of ACOMORAN members.
Babangida said the nationwide registration will commence soon and that ACOMORAN will work with the federal government to tackle the security challenges.
He suggested that rather than ban commercial motorcycles and tricycles, there should be a “reorientation of the riders and a proper control of their activities that will make them obey rules and regulations in their various states.”
