Nissan, Infiniti Motors Co’s premium brand has named Karim Habib, a former BMW executive as the new new chief designer of the brands.
Habib will replace Alfonso Albaisa who was promoted to lead Nissan’s global design, with effect from July 1, 2017.

Habib who has worked for several premium automotive brands, including BMW and Daimler, will be based in Nissan’s technical centre in Atsugi, Japan, and lead Infiniti’s design teams in Japan, Beijing, San Diego and London.
According to Alfonso Albaisa, who was promoted to lead the company’s global designs, he said the company is delighted to have Habib in the company.
“We are happy to have Karim join us, and head our global Infiniti design teams. During his career as a designer and a leader of global teams, he always created modern and inspiring designs. Karim is very skilled at capturing the heart and passion of a brand, while at the same time giving each design its unique character. I look forward to Karim inspiring our teams to shape the next generation of Infinitis”, Albaisa added.
The Lebanese-Canadian is a graduate of engineering in McGill University, in Canada. He further graduated from Art Center College of Design in Pasadena before joining BMW as an interior designer.
In 2013, Habib was one winners of the Automotive News Europe, Eurostar.
