One of the leading auto industry giants in the world, Volkswagen will be paying the highest fine ever paid on pollution to New York over the diesel emission scandal.
According to reports, Volkswagen will be paying a total of $157.45 million in order to settle environmental claims from 10 U.S. states while New York will receive $32.5 million.
According to Attorney General Eric Schneiderman he said the reason for Volkswagen paying such fine is to show that no company is above the law.
He said; “makes clear that no company however large or powerful is above the law.”
Volkswagen reacting to the fine said they are working to earn back the trust of its customers and that the company wants to avoid further prolonged and costly litigation
