The Zonal Commanding officer, ACM Shehu A Zaki fsi, RS2 Lagos addressing Commanding Officers and Senior Principal Officers of the Zone  at the monthly operators’ meeting told them to continue to improve enforcement and post crash care on major highways within the Zone (comprising of Lagos and Ogun State.

He stated that the Corps’ strategic objective of having a reduction in speed related crashes this year 2017 is feasible and achievable; we must therefore ensure RTC within the Zone is reduced by 15% and fatality by 25%.
He further reiterated that each state must achieve 80% compliance with Fleet Certification; 30% for Standard Tyres and 90%, Safe to Load programme.

On the permanent ban of VIOs from Lagos State and advising FRSC to restrict operations on the fringes and Federal roads by the Lagos state Governor Akinwumi Ambode, the Zonal Commander stated that FRSC has always encouraged states to establish their own traffic agencies to assist the Corps in scaling down the level of road traffic crashes. This position of the Corps is contained in the 2017 strategic goals of the organisation and has been pushing for its implementation.

He stated that Commanding Officers and Senior Officers must employ the assistance of all willing hands as Road Safety is everybody’s business.
