​German auto giant Bayerische Motoren Werke AG popularly known as BMW has recalled 1410000 vehicles in North America over different issues.

The recalled vehicles include 670,000 2006-11 3-Series models and second recall covers 740,000 2007-11 vehicles which included 128i, 3-Series, 5-Series and X3, X5 and Z4 models.

The 2006-11 3-Series models was recalled to address a wiring issue for heating and air conditioning systems which may overheat and increase the risk of a fire.

While 2007-11 vehicles with a valve heater issues heater could rust and lead to a fire in rare cases. 

BMW spokesman Michael Rebstock said the recalls overlap and cover about 1 million vehicles, nearly all in the United States and about 15,000 in Canada. He said the recalls may be expanded.

“We are examining whether it will be necessary in the future to widen this (recall) into other countries,” he said.
