The German car manufacturer BMW is recalling 11,700 diesel vehicles because they are equipped with the wrong software.
The program was developed for the SUV X5 and X6 models but has also been installed on M550d xDrive and 750d XDrive models, said a spokesman for the brand based in Munich.
The automaker discovered the error in internal testing and warned the German automotive regulator, the KBA.
This software problem causes worse engine emission values than expected.
BMW makes the recall to install the correct software on the vehicles concerned.
