Ford is studying a new technology that makes finding parking spaces easier. This system is based on the parking sensors of other vehicles.

Ford estimates that a driver loses a whole day every year to search for a vacancy. To avoid this wasted time and limit the stress of looking for parking, Ford is studying a new solution in London. It is a system of “collaborative parking” based on the data of the parking sensors of the vehicles that circulated in the streets or parking

The information obtained is geolocated and sent to an online map that displays the available places in real time. Adding the data from the parking lots, this would reveal all the parking spaces in a given area.

This “collaborative parking” system is part of the “UK Autodrive” program, supported by the UK government, which studies the technologies around autonomous vehicles and connected cars.

This project is still under study, Ford does not indicate any launch date.
