The racing car Aston Martin Vantage GT4 (pictured), as well as the more advanced Vantage GT3, debuted at the Michelin Aston Martin Racing Le Mans Festival on the eve of the Le Mans 24 hours marathon. By the way, the pole position in this year – the team of Toyota Gazoo Racing.
Specialists of the racing division of Aston Martin Racing made from a sports car Vantage a successful car.
For example, the Vantage GTE (formerly Vantage GT2) successfully competed in the FIA World Endurance Championship, and in 2017 took the first place in the class of LMGTE Pro daily marathon in Le Mans.
Still good in the race for the Blancpain GT Series Endurance Cup and British GT Series released in 2011 Vantage GT3 . But soon these cars will go down in history, and in their place will come new ones. In November last year, the British have already shown the racing Vantage GTE next generation.
Now it’s the turn for the debut of the two-door Aston Martin Vantage GT3 and the younger GT4.
In the older models of the Vantage GTE and GT3, the branches of the original exhaust system are withdrawn to the area of the front arches, while in the GT4 they are the same as in the standard coupe. But the carbon fiber wing in all three cars is adjustable. Also in all, including GT4, lightweight wiring is used.
The least expensive car Vantage GT4 is little known. Engine – modified “biturbovosmyurka” 4.0 from Mercedes-AMG. At the heart of the car – the same aluminum spatial design, covered with standard external panels of the same material.
The main external difference was a high wing and forged 18-inch wheels with Michelin slicks. The racing version of the GT4 clearly weighs less than the donor, as hinted at by a gutted interior with a safety cage and the use of carbon fiber in feathers.
Adjustable suspension, Alcon brake mechanisms, anti-lock system and traction control from Bosch Motorsport are also included.
Rear-wheel drive Aston Martin Vantage GT3 is equipped with a double-link suspension with revised geometry, mechanical differential lock, six- and four-piston brakes front and rear, steel safety frame and six-point safety belts.
Composite body, lightweight glass, Akrapovic exhaust system and 18-inch magnesium wheels, interior trim and old equipment helped to reduce the dry weight by 300 kg – to 1245.
Much more is known about the modification of the Vantage GT3. From the serial Vantage left much less detail: the British upgraded the power structure, markedly widened the track and completely replaced the factory exterior panels with quick-release carbon fiber.
The four-liter twin-turbocharged V8 engine is boosted to 542 hp. and 700 N • m (was 510 and 685, respectively), and instead of the eight-speed “automatic” is used sequential gearbox Xtrac with multi-plate clutch Alcon.
The same supplier provided the brakes, but the customizable shock absorbers (four positions) here from Öhlins. Orders for Vantage GT3 are not accepted yet – it will be completed by March 1, 2019
