Just won, Vergne wins the last ePrix of the season, the last with the first generation of Formula E. Cap season 5 and Gen2.

The Frenchman Jean-Eric Vergne is titled since the race of yesterday. He has also dedicated his season to his friend Jules Bianchi. Today, we put the blue heating to get the title stable for Techeetah. The private team, which has the Renault undercarriage, has only 5 points more than Audi Sport Abt Schaeffler.

The weather played tricks for this second New York ePrix. But, that did not stop the qualifications from taking place on a wet track. Buemi signs pole again. Like yesterday. He is ahead of Lotterer and Vergne who have not been downgraded this time. Follow the two Audi of Abt and Di Grassi.

Then come Evans, Piquet, Bird, Rosenqvist, Sarrazin, Lopez, D’Ambrosio, Heidfeld, Dillmann, Filippi, Prost, Engel, Lynn, Ma and Da Costa. Ma replaces Turvey who broke his hand during free practice # 2. It rained in the day and wet marks. What troubled the race?

Departure
Extinguishing the lights, we left for 43 laps. Buemi goes well but less well than Vergne and Lotterer. Looks like the Techeetah pilots are gone in “the shot”. To be continued. The Renault e.Dams driver stuck Vergne shifting to the other side. He passes in a puddle but contains his car and does the inside at Buemi. We have Vergne, Buemi, Lotterer who could not take advantage of it, Di Grassi and Piquet. Abt missed and lost two places. Lotterer is hot at the chicane but keeps his place. Di Grassi has a shock on his front wing, but, that seems to hold.

The race management announces an investigation for the departure of Lotterer and Vergne. The visual impression is confirmed. In the 6th lap, Lotterer passes Buemi. Both Techeetah drivers risk the penalty and may be tempted to widen the gap. Lopez is in a bruised Dragon Racing. He typed from behind and that smokes. Obviously he broke his rear suspension on a vibrator. The race direction indicates a “full race yellow”.

It’s confused ! D’Ambrosio is with a damaged front. In fact the two drivers NIO, Filippi and Ma got into it, Filippi comes back and hangs D’Ambrosio. Pity.

Tower 10/43
The race is still neutralized. Lotterer takes 10 seconds of “stop and go” for a stolen start. Vergne on his side is gone in the shot. No penalty. But, it’s a blow for Techeetah.

During the 11th round the drivers are released. Green flag! Lotterer returns for his penalty. Funny way, the first 4 of the race are all champions of Formula E. Vergne, Buemi, Di Grassi, Piquet. Di Grassi brakes Buemi while Abt passes Piquet. Lotterer came out 15th after observing his penalty. For the moment, Techeetah and Audi Sport are on equal points!

Oh no more now Abt signs the fastest lap in the race and Audi is one point ahead. Lotterer must whip. Buemi, Vergne and Abt receive the last fan boost of the season. Once again, Techeetah drivers are the most battery-efficient in the top drivers. Note that Lotterer won a place. Abt passes Buemi on the 19th lap and gives Audi Sport Abt Schaeffler an advantage in the championship.

Tower 20/43
Di Grassi has moved closer to Vergne. Abt has a deficit of 3% (1 lap) on the other 4 drivers. 4% same. He was looking for the best lap in the race for the championship. Abt, Evans, Rosenqvist, Heidfeld and Bird return to the pits to change cars on the 23rd lap. A turn after the leaders come in too. Vergne leaves before Di Grassi, Buemi 3rd but Abt returns with the momentum. But, Abt already has 6% less than Buemi. This will pay at the end of the race.

Lotterer spring 12 th and soon in the points. Buemi passes Abt on lap 26 with the help of the fan boost.

Tower 30/43
Abt regains his 3rd place compared to Buemi. But, he still has 5/6% less battery. Lotterer is still 12th, behind Prost 11 and Sarrazin 10. It is tense between Vergne and Di Grassi for the victory. The Brazilian wants this victory, the new champion too.

Lotterer is getting closer to Prost. He is only one second behind. There are more than 6 laps and it is hard to see how he will be able to return to the top 10. Audi Sport Abt Schaeffler is heading for the title. Vergne must defend beak and nail on Di Grassi who harasses him.

Tower 40/43
Di Grassi is literally in the crash box of Vergne. Lotterer has passed Prost and will try to fetch Sarrazin. It’s done in the 40th round and now there is Bird in front of him. Bird who was playing the title yesterday is losing his position as dolphin for Di Grassi!

Lotterer passes Bird and takes 2 points. There is still 2 missing for Techeetah. Buemi should pass Abt for Techeetah to be titrated. Last lap, the first 4 are on a small train. Nobody shifts or doubles. Vergne wins in front of Di Grassi and Abt.

Follow Buemi, Rosenqvist, Evans, Piquet, Heidfeld, Lotterer and Bird. Lotterer failed to overtake Heidfeld and Audi Sport Abt Schaeffler won the team championship.
Formula E will resume for season 5 in Saudi Arabia at Ad Diriyah, December 15, 2018. The Gen2 will be on track. No more stops in the middle of the race to change frames, the cars will be able to race in full, with more power (250 kW against 200 currently)
