Toyota announced at the Guangzhou Motor Show 2018 for the first time the new version of the “Avalon” Chinese specification vehicle, and will introduce the same car to the Chinese market in March, 2019.
Avalon is the successor model of Cresida which was discontinued in 1992.
It is a large-sized advanced sedan of the front wheel drive type Toyota manufactures and sells in North America, it is also a flagship car of the North American Toyota (Toyota) brand.
The first and second generations were exported to Japan and were also manufactured and sold in Australia.
Since it was one of the most popular in Japan (since there were Wyndham of FF car besides popular models such as Crown and Mark II), import sales ended in 2005.
The origin of the car name comes from Avalon, an island of paradise that appears in the legend of Arthur King of Celtic myth.
In January 2018, Toyota announced the new Avalon at Detroit Motor Show 2018.
This new model is the 5th generation model, using a platform for sedan named “K” from “TNGA” of Toyota’s new generation chassis.
This time Toyota announced that it will introduce the new Avalon into the Chinese market as the Toyota brand flagship sedan.
It is scheduled to be released by Toyota and FAW Chinese joint venture, FAW Futada in March 2019
